Mary Law School

Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline

PLEASE CALL US AT (805) 483-7930

At Mary Law School we do not think of the term discipline as meaning punishment, but rather, as assisting the child in the development of self-control, good attitudes, orderliness and efficiency. The teacher will tolerate actions acceptable for certain levels of growth, channel actions when necessary, and attempt to improve any unacceptable behavior or conduct. We will strive to enable our students to understand that it is necessary to respect the rights and privileges of others.

OBJECTIVES & BEHAVIORAL GUIDELINES

The objectives of the school conduct and discipline policy are to help the student to become a responsible person and one who respects and values relationships and rules regarding them. We also encourage a student's appreciation for the property of others and the wise use of school facilities and equipment. Students will be required to pay for damage that result from careless or purposeful acts.

ACTION TAKEN
We have developed a classroom discipline procedure that will give every student guidance in making good decisions about his or her behavior and thus, an opportunity to learn in a positive, nurturing environment.
Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for his or her growth. The following procedure outlines our rules, positive rewards and consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behavior. The emphasis would be on positive rewards for appropriate behavior. This Discipline Plan is intended to be the standard for all classrooms at our school beginning in Kindergarten.

    Rules:
  • Follow directions
  • Keep Hands, feet and objects to yourself
  • No swearing or teasing
  • Do not leave the classroom without permission.
  • Raise your hand to ask permission before speaking in class
  • Have all materials and supplies ready for the day.

To encourage students to follow our rules, we will recognize appropriate behavior with praise, stickers, notes or personal contact with you weekly and monthly.

If students choose to break the rules, the following steps will be taken daily -
